VFMVN30 ETF is the dominant player out of the only two local ETF funds. The Benchmark Index – VN30 obtains diversification and liquidity which turns VFMVN30 ETF into a more active, attractive and transparent choice for foreign investors who want to get through the barrier of foreign ownership limits. VFMVN30 ETF has received the establishment license No. 14/GCN-UBCK, dated September 18th 2014, from the State Securities Commission. The initial capital contribution of VND 202 billion ($9,6 million) was raised in the IPO period from 21 July to 20 August, 2014, and is managed by VietFund Management (VFM). The Fund’s Authorized Participants (APs) are Ho Chi Minh Securities Corporation (HSC) and Bao Viet Securities Company (BVSC). The Fund’s custodian bank is Standard Chartered Vietnam Bank (SCB). VFMVN30 ETF was listed and official traded at Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange since 6 October, 2014. The Fund has trading code of E1VFVN30 and its ISIN code is VN0E1VFVN306.
VFMVN30 ETF implements a passive investing strategy to carry out its pre-set investment objectives. When the basket of component securities of the VN30 Index changes, the VFMVN30 ETF will adjust the Fund’s portfolio to align it with the basket of VN30 stocks. The Fund will seek only to replicate the Index and will not implement active strategies of any kind in rising or falling markets. This passive investing is aimed at reducing costs and providing a simple, straightforward play on whatever the VN30 Index does.
The VN30 Index consists of 30 HOSE-listed stocks screened for free float, market capitalization and trading value. At least 95% of the fund’s assets will be invested in listed companies belonging to the constituency of the VN30.
